Gordon’s personal motto is “seniors helping seniors,” and he believes in contributing to the community where he lives. He is a committed volunteer who participates on numerous boards and committees.
Before retiring to Mission, BC in 2010 with his wife Lyn, Gordon accumulated over 30 years of volunteer experience and served on various boards for two decades, holding key positions and receiving several awards for his contributions. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the Mission Seniors Centre Association and was the Transition Coordinator for the integration of five separate seniors groups into the new Boswyk Senior Activity Centre.
He has coordinated and presented workshops for the BC Seniors’ Health and Wellness Institute (COSCO), was a member of the Mission Seniors Advisory Committee, and continues to be actively involved in seniors’ affairs.
In 2019, Gordon reached the summit of Dainard Mountain, north of Revelstoke near the Mica Dam. The helicopter ride was scenic.
